Recipients of the 2009 Cultural Awards Announced
Each year the City of Lawton and the Lawton Arts & Humanities Council recognizes individuals who were nominated by the public for their outstanding contributions to the cultural life of our community. This recognition is given in the form of six award categories: Roma Clift Montgomery Citizen of the Arts, Roma Clift Montgomery Citizen of the Humanities, Artist of the Year, Educator in the Arts, Educator in the Humanities, and Business in the Arts.
The winners will be recognized at the Arts for All Kick-Off Luncheon, a Lawton-Ft. Sill Chamber of Commerce’s Monthly Forum, 12 Noon, Friday, February 5 at the Best Western Hotel and Conference Center.
The awards are original artwork by Navajo-Hopi artist, Myron Beeson of Apache, OK who won the “One to Six” Art Purchase Competition.
