Essentials of Drawing

A new 6-week series of Saturday morning classes which will provide students an introduction to basic drawing. Under the direction of Ronda K. Ivy, students will explore six of the elements of art: line, shape, form, texture, value, and space. Students will learn the fundamentals of composition using various media such as pencil, ink & brush, charcoal, and marker. A variety of surfaces will be used during this course such as newsprint, drawing paper, manila paper, cardboard & student prepared surfaces. Tuition is for the six class series (9 hours of instruction).

• Jan 16 - A study of the five basic types of line.
• Jan 23 - Drawings of singular objects exploring basic shapes.
• Jan 30 - A study of value; drawing a complete value scale.
• Feb  6 - A study of value and visual distortion of water and glass.
• Feb 13 - Drawing a downtown street scene.*
• Feb 20 - Drawing a downtown building.*

*Inclement weather will mean alternate indoor lesson plan*

A $3 materials fee is payable in cash to the instructor at the first class.
