Aggies go 4-3 at LSC Crossover

DURANT, Oklahoma (March 30) – Once again playing a bunch of games in a short period of time away from the friendly confines of Cameron Field, the Aggie softball team (25-21, 3-5 LSC North) competed in the annual Lone Star Conference Crossover tournament this weekend. In three days the Aggies took on each of the seven LSC South Division teams and returned home to Lawton with a 4-3 record. The Aggies got some great pitching and some very timely hits, and now have a mere 16 games left in the 2008 season.

CU sweeps ECU back to Ada

LAWTON, Oklahoma (March 30) – For the second time in three weekends, Aggie fans can break out their brooms for the Cameron baseball team. Today at McCord Field, the Aggie baseballers (21-12, 15-10 LSC) completed their four-game, weekend sweep of the East Central University Tigers (14-22, 11-14 LSC). Cameron won the first game of the series on Friday, swept yesterday’s double-header, and finished off the series with this afternoon’s victory. This weekend’s baseball action saw just about everything from a walk-off double, to a near-ejection by one head coach, to even a complete game victory.

CU tennis has their way with DBU

LAWTON, Oklahoma (March 26) – Today at the CU Tennis Center the Cameron men’s and women’s tennis teams scored some impressive wins over the Dallas Baptist Patriots. Both the Aggie men (#11) and women (#30) are nationally ranked and were simply too much for DBU to handle. The men pulled off the sweep and won 9-0, while the women won 7-2 and narrowly missed out on the shutout. Both of the two Cameron losses today were extremely close to being Aggie victories.

Eight wins in a row for CU softball

LAWTON, Oklahoma (March 25) – Make it eight wins in a row for the Cameron Aggie softball team (20-18, 3-5 LSC-North), who today swept the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri State (11-7, 0-0 MIAA) at Cameron Field. The Aggies have now won nine of their last ten games and appear headed for the Lone Star Conference postseason tournament. Today CU won the first game in a run-rule, 10-1, and the second game 9-8 in the bottom of the final inning.

CU men’s golf finishes 4th at UCO

EDMOND, Oklahoma (March 25) – With only one tournament to go before postseason play begins, the Aggie men’s golf team this week traveled northeast to take part in the KickingBird Classic tournament in Edmond, Oklahoma. After three rounds in two days, the Aggies took 4th place overall ahead of a number of fellow Lone Star Conference programs.

Aggie Tennis faces elite in Florida

PENSACOLA, Florida (March 21) – The Cameron Aggie tennis teams returned from Pensacola, Florida, yesterday after taking part in the week-long West Florida University Invitational. Both the CU men’s (11-1) and women’s (5-6) teams took part in the event, which featured some of the top teams in the entire nation. Elite teams from the NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, as well as NAIA matched-up with the Aggies all week long. The Aggie men went 4-1 over the week, while the Aggie women went 1-3.

Aggies sweep Jets for fourth straight

WICHITA, Kansas (March 20) – The Cameron Aggie softball team (17-18, 3-5 LSC-North) recorded their fourth straight victory this afternoon in a double-header sweep that gave CU five wins in the last six games. In the first half of a two-day roadtrip to Kansas, Cameron today traveled to Wichita to take on the Newman University Jets (5-17). The Aggies won game one 6-3 and game two 14-6, and looked very solid throughout.

LAWTON, Oklahoma (March 19) – The Cameron Aggie softball team (14-18, 2-6 LSC-North) took care of business this afternoon at Cameron Field and has now won three of their last four games. Today CU hosted the RiverHawks of Northeastern State (13-13, 4-7 LSC-North) for the second half of a home and home series. This afternoon’s double-header was originally scheduled for Monday of this week but was postponed due to inclement weather.

Aggies complete sweep of ‘Hawks

LAWTON, Oklahoma (March 16) – Break out your brooms Aggie fans, your baseball team just completed their second sweep of the season. This afternoon at Cameron’s McCord Field, the Cameron Aggie baseball team (16-11, 10-9 LSC) completed their four-game weekend sweep of the Northeastern State RiverHawks (8-16, 4-11). Cameron won all four games of the series for just the second time this season. The Aggie squad showcased some very impressive baseball in all aspects of the game.

Aggie women blow away Savage Storm

LAWTON, Oklahoma (March 11) – The nationally ranked #30 Cameron Aggie women’s tennis team (4-3) easily dispatched of the Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm this afternoon in a Lone Star Conference battle at the CU Tennis Center. The Aggies swept the Storm across the board, winning the match 9-0. With the victory CU moves back above .500 on the season.

CU finishes 3rd, Svajlen wins event

THACKERVILLE, Oklahoma (March 11) – The Aggie men’s golf team was not able to hold onto their two-round tournament lead at this week’s Red River Intercollegiate golf tournament as they slipped to 3rd place overall. Cameron was in 1st place after the opening round, remained in 1st place after the second round, but simply could not hold on for the victory. CU finished with an overall team score of 883 (292-286-305).

Aggies swept by #20 Savage Storm

DURANT, Oklahoma (March 11) – In the second half of a home-and-home series this week, the Cameron Aggie softball team (12-17, 0-4 LSC-North) today traveled to Durant, Oklahoma, to battle the nationally ranked #20 Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm (25-4, 7-1 LSC-North). The teams matched up last Saturday for a double-header that SOSU eventually swept, and this afternoon’s double-header was no different. Today SOSU defeated CU 8-2 in the first game, and 10-2 in the second.

CU women take 7th in LSC Preview

THACKERVILLE, Oklahoma (March 11) – The weather turned out beautifully for today’s second and final round of the Red River Intercollegiate golf tournament hosted by the East Central University Tigers. The Cameron Aggie women’s golf team finished the event in 7th place with an overall team score of 687 (353-334). First round play was delayed a few hours on Monday, but the second round went off without a hitch. The Aggies knocked 26 strokes off of their final score from last weekend’s tournament.

CU splits with SOSU in delayed DH

DURANT, Oklahoma (March 10) – The weather finally cooperated long enough for the Cameron Aggies (13-11, 7-9 LSC) and the Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm (9-11, 8-8 LSC) to finish their four-game weekend series. The series was originally scheduled to begin last Friday, but was pushed back to Sunday and wrapped up this afternoon. An intense snowstorm blanketed Durant late last week, preventing the series from starting on schedule.

Women’s golf takes 12th in Austin

AUSTIN, Texas (March 4) – Competing in the annual St. Edward’s University Invitational, the Cameron women’s golf team battled poor weather and a talented field to take 12th place out of 17 schools. The Aggies finished round one in 11th place overall and slipped to 12th after today’s second and final round. CU finished with a total team score of 713 (363-350) and showed considerable improvement in the second round. Every Aggie golfer cut strokes off of their first round score today.

New direction for Aggie WBB

LAWTON, Oklahoma (March 4) – Cameron head women’s basketball coach Kevin Hackerott and assistant women’s basketball coach Andrew Belsky both tendered their resignation this morning following a 4-23 season. Cameron Athletic Director Jim Jackson officially announced the departure of the coaching staff earlier today. The team’s 2007-2008 season ended last weekend with a close loss to the Southwestern Oklahoma State Bulldogs.

LAWTON, Oklahoma (March 2) – The weather ended up cooperating this weekend for a beautiful three days of baseball at Cameron’s McCord Field. The Cameron Aggie baseball team (11-9, 5-6 LSC) hosted a three-day, four-game series with the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds (9-7, 4-4 LSC) beginning on Friday and ending this afternoon.
