Haroun adds two stars to squad

Aggie golf in tie for 9th after first round

ALLENDALE, Michigan (May 22) – Competing in the NCAA Division II National Championship for the second straight year, the Cameron men’s golf team teed off at 6:30am (CST) this morning for the first of four rounds at The Meadows Golf Club. Cameron finished the day in 6th place overall after shooting a team score of 298 (+14).

MUSCLE SHOALS, Oklahoma (May 9) – After 54 holes in three days at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, the Cameron men’s golf team is now a Super Regional Champion. The Aggies won the South Central portion of the NCAA Division II South/South Central Super Regional golf tournament this afternoon, effectively punching their ticket to the NCAA Division II National Championship in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Lawton Dance Studio Takes Step in Right Direction

Among Lawton's half dozen or so dance studios, one made magic recently in more ways than one. Sherri's Dance Center presented its 2007 Spring Dance Concert with the theme "Aladdin." Also, it is the 25th anniversary of the studio. There are those who would add that anytime Sherri Conwell takes the stage, it's magic. The consensus is Sherri is well trained and talented, gifted with charisma and stage appeal, and always seems to have a toe shoe on the pulse of what is "in." Few would guess her age -- 48 -- based on the fact that she leads a class with more energy than girls a third her age.

There are many factors contributing to the positive growth we are experiencing in our community. However, the primary reason is Supply and Demand. A Brigade of troops will arrive in Lawton - Fort Sill within the next few years. The roads are expanding. New commercial industry is arriving in our town. We are growing and we will continue to grow. The prices of homes have been increasing at a steady rate in our community for many years. However, the housing market will rise much more than usual as the supply of homes becomes less than the great demand we will have.

Rounding up at the 2007 Wranglers

The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum is only about an hour and 15 minutes up the trail from Lawton. The trail being the H.E. Bailey Turnpike. Along about this time each year this organization hands out a few nice bronze sculptures, the Western Heritage Awards, also known as the Wrangler Awards. Wranglers are given the best from the past year in film, television and literature dealing with the American West. This year’s awards banquet, held at the Oklahoma City museum had its largest crowd ever.

Some 1,100 seats were reserved, according to Lynda Haller, PR director for the museum. "It's the biggest turnout we've ever had," she said about the 45-year-old event.

Aggie golf leads Supers after 2nd round

MUSCLE SHOALS, Alabama (May 8) – The Cameron men’s golf team vaulted from 5th place to 1st place today to lead the NCAA Division II South/South Central Super Regional by six strokes. The Aggies were in a tie for 5th place following yesterday’s opening round score of 301, and now lead the field after shooting a team score of 288. Their two-round total is 589.

Aggie women’s basketball signs four-sport star

LAWTON, Oklahoma (May 8) – Make it two for the Aggies so far this offseason. The Cameron women’s basketball program and Head Coach Kevin Hackerott announced today the signing of their second recruit of the year. Haley Dunn of Winona , Texas will join the Aggies as a freshman for the 2007-2008 season and will fight for playing time at one of the two guard positions.

MUSCLE SHOALS, Alabama (May 7) – The Cameron men’s golf team is in 5th place after the first round of today’s NCAA Division II South/South Central Super Regional golf tournament in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Sixteen of the most elite men’s golf programs in the nation, eight from the South Region and eight from the South Central Region, are competing at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course for a spot in the NCAA Division II National Championship.

Ags sweep Tigers, clinch postseason berth

LAWTON, Oklahoma (April 18) – Continuing one of the better weeks in recent Cameron Athletics history, the Aggie softball team (20-23, 13-9 LSC) clinched a postseason berth this afternoon thanks to their sweep of the East Central Tigers (11-24, 2-16 LSC). CU won the first game 5-0 and took the second 10-2. The nightcap was run-ruled, ending in just the fifth inning.

Aggies excel at LSC Tourney, Women crowned Champs

DALLAS, Texas (April 17) – Cameron University’s drought of Lone Star Conference Championships finally ended today as the Aggie Women’s Golf team was crowned champions at the year-end tournament. The Aggies defeated a field of seven LSC squads to win their first conference title, winning by just one stroke. Cameron’s women’s golf program is in just its second year of existence.

Aggie softball falls in playoffs, ends season

IRVING, Texas (May 4) The exciting and unprecedented 2007 Aggie Softball season unfortunately came to a close this afternoon. Cameron (27-26, 15-9 LSC N) had made it to the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament for just the second time in school history, but was unable to come away with a postseason win. The Aggies clinched a postseason berth over two weeks ago but didn‘t have enough to go very far in the tournament. CU lost their first-round game against No. 1 seed (LSC South) Angelo State (45-8, 21-3 LSC S), 8-1, and followed that up with a first-round consolation loss to No. 3 seed (LSC South) Tarleton State (34-16, 13-11 LSC S), 4-1.
