Native American Film Fest Grows in Stature

A lot of Native Americans are getting into movies – and not just in front of the camera. Fast becoming one of the best known and respected venues for Indian filmmakers is the Comanche Nation College Invitational Film Festival. It happens Sept. 21 and 22 in Lawton.

I had a chance recently to talk to an Oklahoma living sports hero and a few minutes later to busy Hollywood film director. Coach Jim Keith had a true Cinderella team in the 1960s. Still it came as a surprise when the Sayre, Oklahoma high school coach of the girls basketball team was approached by his uncle who wanted to write a book based on Keith's near legendary story. Keith's eyes got even wider when filmmaker Robert Collector got in touch about making that book into a movie. The result was "Believe in Me."

Lawton - Fort Sill is growing. The Housing Market in our great city will continue to rise in value.

There are many factors contributing to the positive growth we are experiencing in our community. However, the primary reason is Supply and Demand. A Brigade of troops will arrive in Lawton - Fort Sill within the next few years. The roads are expanding. New commercial industry is arriving in our town. We are growing and we will continue to grow. The prices of homes have been increasing at a steady rate in our community for many years. However, the housing market will rise much more than usual as the supply of homes becomes less than the great demand we will have.

New construction is ever increasing in Lawton and surrounding towns such as Cache, Elgin, and Geronimo. The price of New Construction has and will continue to increase, just as the prices of Existing Homes has and will continue to increase.

Over the past year, the talk of growth in our community has been heard. Now, the sound is loud, and it is growing in strength and intensity.
