Ice!!!!

Being a novice Oklahoman, this storm came as quite a shock to me. When I left my car in the morning, it was kind of cold. When I returned to my car a few hours later, nature had unleashed her icy claws with a vengence. I almost couldn't get into my car at all, and if it wasn't for some heroic young people who happened to have ice-scrapers with them, I would have been stuck. In Arizona, I've seen snow-everything from light drizzles to white-out blizzards. But never have I seen anything like this!

Have the winter seasons in Oklahoma always been so harsh, or is it...global warming?

Re: Ice!!!!
Lies.
"Top scientists" can't make up their minds whether or not la Terra is undergoing global warming or not.
Not 15 years ago, scientists were convinced that the Earth was actually facing a global cooling crisis.
Now they've changed to the theory of global warming.

In my opinion, it's a government conspiracy.
I'm not sure what it's covering up, though.
Maybe it's not covering up anything, but rather helping the U.S. to boost its economy (the exact way this would work, I cannot fathom, but I wouldn't put it past ol' Uncle Sam).

To answer your question, Miss Katie, no - Oklahoman winters are rarely like that. They are generally very mild, with snowfall lasting on the ground a maximum of three days, usually less than one in most cases.
The ice storm in question was due to several factors which I will boil down to three main ones:

1) There was a cold front on one side of us.
2) There was a wet front on the other side of us.
3) They decided to collide right above us.
4) Rinse and repeat.

Re: Ice!!!!
Ah, I see. You should read "State of Fear" by Michael Crichton. It deals with global warming conspiracy, etc. I'm a huge Crichton fan, but I must admit that this is not his best work- one of his characters is too unreaslistic. But Kenner aside, it's a good read- you should check it out.  I think that there is a global warming trend going on, (I've noticed it over the years), but I think it's just part of La Terra's natural little warming and cooling cycles- although you know that all that pollution floating around in the air can't be good for our health.
