I shall introduce myself-

Salutations, all. I am Hypatia, philosopher, writer, astronomer, and librarian. I hail from the great city of Alexandria,Egypt, the intellectual and artistic capital of the world. I am tall, graceful, and fair, with deep, dark eyes that glisten emerald green with untold secrets, and midnight-black hair cascading down my back like waves of shimmering silk. I have come to this state seeking adventure, knowledge, and love. Although this Oklahoma is pathetic when compared to the classical beauty and elegence of Alexandria, it's treasure lies within the hearts of it's people. I intend to unlock these secrets and seek truth, for as a muse by nature I am unable to let such things go undiscovered. Always reserve your right to think, for even to think wrongly is better than not to think at all. Thus I hath explained myself, is vignette. Should thou desire more knowledge of me, thou must seek it out.

Re: I shall introduce myself-

Hey-

Salutations? Does anybody say that? Um, nevermind. Nice to meet you! Welcome to the Great State of Oklahoma! I hope you find what you're looking for- the 'secrets' and 'truths' and all that jazz. It's very cool that you are an astronomer. I find the universe to be absolutely fascinating. I would love to be an astronomer, but I don't want to go to college for 8 years. For a career in science, I would settle for nothing less than a doctorate, and that takes way to long to get!
Not to be rude, but you have a typo. Instead of saying 'is vignette', you should have put 'in vignette'. Don't worry- Spell checkers aren't perfect. : )
Did you go to school in England or something? 'Cause you sound more Shakespearian than Egyptian....

Re: I shall introduce myself-
The speech is more reminiscent of High Middle English than Old English, though the wording seems to be professing an attempt at the Old.
The -st ending is dropped off of the vocative forms of the verbs, making them closer to Modern English than Old English... No, wait - vocative forms are declined forms of NOUNS, not verbs... so it would be a... the exact word escapes me, but I believe that I have sufficiently portrayed my thoughts in this post.

As for you, Hypatia - find your Truth in words, not places. Though it can be found in physicalities, you would be hard-pressed to come to a realization as efficiently as within words, specifically books. I recommend reading the Time Quartet (just recently it became a Quintet) by Madeline L'Engle.

Too, there are several films that you should watch. The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach, and anything directed by Tim Burton. Of course, there are better films than that, but I cannot recall their names at this point in time...

Hey, you seem to be somewhat familiar with ancient languages. If you are, I need some help with Sanskrit, specifically Bengali and Devanagari. Do you any of the Sanskrits?
