Hello, In Arizona, almost all of the people I knew were into MX, and besides that the only sport that I kind of follow is Women's Figure Skating - so I know, like, nothing about football. (Although I think I've figured out what a 'first down' is.) As part of my Oklahoma culteral experience, I've decided to learn about football. Where should I start? Writing, I think, is not apart from living. Writing is a kind of double living. The writer experiences everything twice. Once in reality and once in the mirror which waits always before or behind.

Question- Why do they say, "Hike!" when they throw the ball between their legs? Why not call it a toss, or a handover, or something logical? Do they mean, "Here's the ball, take a hike?" Just curious. : ) Writing, I think, is not apart from living. Writing is a kind of double living. The writer experiences everything twice. | That's a really good question. Why do they say Hike? |

There really isn't a good explanation for why the term "hike" is used.
It can be called a snap, hike, or even rarely called a pass from
center. The best term is probably snap, because when the center hikes
the ball he uses a snapping action in his wrist to get the ball going.
Also, it should be a quick motion, so that may contribute some to that
term. My best idea on "hike" is that it is a deeper, almost gutteral
sound. That may make it easier to be louder when calling it, and also
make it easier for the offensive line to hear. Anyway, I don't know for
sure. These are just ideas on the topic.
There is neither happiness nor unhappiness in this world; there is only the comparison of one state with another. Only a man who has felt ultimate despair is capable of feeling ultimate bliss. It is necessary to have wished for death in order to know how good life is to live.
