Does anyone else notice Lawton getting traffickier? (I'm sure that's a word, or it should be) It used to be I could get down Gore at just about any time of day and hit all the light in synch, not counting having to slow down for Eisenhower. Now morning noon and evening it seems that the congestion, especially around the hospital and Cameron preclude a non-stop drive west to east. There is no doubt that some of the inflow from Fort Bliss has begun. More is slated for 2010 and 2011, and, to hear the experts tell it, the impact cannot be overestimated. It will have a real and profound impact on economy and infrastructure. So, as a practical matter, how will Lawtonians, who are completely unused to urban-style traffic jams, handle what the Germans call a Verkehrsmarmalade? With no new arteries on the drawing board, we'll all have to fit through the connectors we currently have. And with city fathers obsessed with keeping retail downtown, all that traffic will increasingly be forced into the center city.

Re: It's getting crowded in here

It can be summed up in two words "More Accidents". This week I have seen several and avoided a few by quick thinking. Lawton has always been wierd to drive in anyway with people here from so many different places and with so many different driving habits. However, its going to get really crazy.

Speaking of people--does anyone know the wherebouts of Gail Pope--married Gail Lewis. divorced...now Gail???

I've lost track of her since high school. We both went to Davidson h.s.. She married Keith Lewis from Frederick.

Please help me find her.She was in Lawton, last time I saw her.

Thanks and double thanks~~~~~~

Re: It's getting crowded in here

Alot of people have already PCS'd to Lawton from Ft. Bliss, however, there are several thousands more to come. We haven't PCS'd yet, but we will be in July and I've found it nearly impossible to find decent housing. So I have no doubt the traffic will not only get worse downtown, but also in residential areas. By the way, does anyone know of any apartment properties that are nice? All I can find are the ones that look like they are in the ghetto.

Hello, out there!  I'm Bonnie Barker.  You are all probably acquainted with my nephew, Sheridan, otherwise known as the "smartest prairie dog in town".

Being somewhat envious of Sheridan's success, I decided that I should host a blog of my own.  I am interested in all the news that's fit to print and some that isn't. If you don't have anything nice to say, please come down to the prairie dog mounds and let's dish!
