Did anyone read Barry Beauchamp's Q&A in the Constitution today? Did Barry Beauchamp? It's was entirely too long and entirely too much, a little bit like going for two tax increases on one ballot. They were turned down last year on one tax increase, so this year they ask for two? Do they seriously think they will impress people by doubling their request? And is there any chance one will pass and not the other? Will someone reject the idea of a property tax increase but embrace a half-cent sales tax because it effects everybody equally? And what do you think of the argument that Lawtonians need to raise their own taxes because the feds refuse to cough up impact aid to build schools on Fort Sill? What would Lawton be teaching D.C.? Cut impact aid more so we can raise our own taxes again to educate soldiers' kids?

Chances are both issues will get more than 50 percent of the vote, but I doubt they will hit the magical 60 percent finish line the state Legislature has set for them.

Re: The LPS bond vote. Will the questions ever end?

So happy to read that all the NOs I'm hearing above ground are reaching you underground. Even though our "kids" deserve better buildings, rooms and other stuff, LPS would have the money if they could see where they could cut costs. Less administration, less busing, and less overhead - they need to give it a try. How about LATS try to take over some of the routes where they can pick up school children. Each child would have to pay their fare.

Sad to see that half of this vote passed. Now I'll have to bring more coins to the stores so I can pay the extra half-cent sales tax that will start in January 2010. Sure was praying that both votes were going to fail.

Hello, out there!  I'm Bonnie Barker.  You are all probably acquainted with my nephew, Sheridan, otherwise known as the "smartest prairie dog in town".

Being somewhat envious of Sheridan's success, I decided that I should host a blog of my own.  I am interested in all the news that's fit to print and some that isn't. If you don't have anything nice to say, please come down to the prairie dog mounds and let's dish!
