Lawton Fort Sill Named the “ Official Best City in Oklahoma 2009”

Lawton Oklahoma June 8, 2009 – The Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce announces today that Lawton Fort Sill has been named the “ Official Best City in Oklahoma 2009” by the “Official Best Of” television company.
Lawton Fort Sill is the “ Official Best City in Oklahoma 2009” and will be featured in the “Official Best of Oklahoma” TV special. This half hour travel show airs June 27, 2009 at noon on KWTV Channel 9 in Oklahoma City . This recognition closely follows the Business Week magazine endorsement of Lawton Fort Sill being the “ Best Place to Raise Kids in Oklahoma ”.

Cameron students call on community businesses to “Paint The Town Black and Gold”

Cameron University students Megan Mefford, Julianne Moini and Daniel Brown will be calling on businesses throughout the Lawton/Fort Sill community over the next few weeks, urging them to Paint The Town Black and Gold. The student-led effort is intended to raise community awareness by partnering with local businesses, who can demonstrate their support of Cameron in a variety of ways: by flying a CU flag, offering discounts for CU students, distributing athletic schedules and event information, selling CU merchandise, and participating in Spirit Fridays by encouraging their staff members to wear Aggie apparel or black and gold.

Cameron University to remodel Lawton Boys and Girls Club

On January 19, volunteers from Cameron University will celebrate "a day on, not a day off" in service to the community at the Boys and Girls Club, 1315 SW F Avenue in Lawton. More than 100 volunteers, comprised of CU students, faculty, staff and members of the community, will participate as part of the national Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. From 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., volunteers will provide needed maintenance, repair, upkeep and cleanup efforts at the facility, including revitalization of the Club's Homework Room, Fitness Room, Game Room and Art Room and creation of a Teen Room for the facility.
